Leaflets...Leaflets...Leaflets…

Last summer we as a Church distributed hundreds of leaflets covering 37 roads in Gravesend. The leaflets show where we are situated as a Church, what we stand for, and some of our activities. We would like to continue our distribution again this year. If you feel you could distribute these leaflets in the road where you live, that would be most helpful. If everyone did this we would cover a large area of Gravesend. If you can help, please have a word with Diane soon. Thank you.

DO YOU CARE ABOUT PLANET EARTH?

"Many people today seem to be concerned for our world. Global warming, the destruction of the rain-forests, our increasingly unpredictable weather patterns, the finite supplies of many. of the resources upon which our lifestyle depends - these are all issues that are causing anxiety in many people around the world. Not all Christians, however, are particularly well-informed about these matters and the potential dangers that lie ahead, even though they know that the God in whom they trust is the Creator and Sustainer of our world and universe. All these issues, and many more, will be drawn to our attention in three special events, to be held at approximately monthly intervals, in central Gravesend during the summer of 2008. Churches Together in Gravesham is organising three key meetings when speakers and facilitators from well-known Christian environmental and/or relief organisations will visit the town, each bringing a different slant and focus on the matters that are relevant to us all. The dates, speakers and topics are: Wednesday 7th May the Impact of Climate Change on some of the world's Poorest People Isaac Kironday from Tear Fund Wednesday 11th June Why it's Important for Christians to Care for God's World John Townsend from A Rocha Wednesday 16th July Restoring the Connections between Ourselves, Others, the Earth, and God Chris Walton from Christian Ecology Link Each event begins at 7.30pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, The Grove, Gravesend, and entry is free. Everyone is welcome, and each meeting will include interactive sections when questions and discussion will be included. On each occasion there will be an opportunity for those present to give financially, both to support the work of the visiting organisation, and to help defray the expenses of the evening. Between them, these three meetings will provide a helpful and welcome insight into the current plight of our planet, as well as inspirational ideas as to how ordinary people like ourselves, and especially Christians, can collaborate with God to help protect His creation for numerous generations, still to be born, to enjoy. PLEASE READ THE PUBLICITY CARDS AVAILABLE. MAKE A NOTE OF THE INFORMATION THERE. AND THEN USE THE CARD TO INVITE SOMEONE TO COME TO THE MEETING WITH YOU. "
